Hed pe, Flutter Effect, Rurik, Tool, Saosin, The Fall of Troy, Opeth

A new feature! I tweet every day about bands and songs that I’m listening to and want to share.

Here’s a compilation of last week’s bands:

  • (Hed) P.E. – funkiest, rocking-est – but nastiest misogynist nurap song – oi!
  • FluttrEffect – eclectic prog rock w/marimba and cello! I interviewed them for BandsLikeRush.com
  • Rurik – post-punk  indie rock – across from Thomas Dolby, P.I.L. and Primus
  • Tool (kinda)  – love their first albums – love the stripped-down record production
  • Saosin – virtuosic little post-hardcore band – busy solo/rhythm gtrs – wish I had their career at age 20 :(
  • TheFallofTroy – love this prog rock, progressive metal style – solo gtrs in verses, insane drums (same camp as Saosin)
  • Opeth – style goes from blues-rock to prog-rock to heavy metal to acoustic rock in one swell foop. And lead singer Mikael Akerfeldt goes from cookie monster-style vocals to crooning baritone blues style just as fast.
